"I love this kit because it is so easy to use. In terms of software development, compare to other similar kits from other vendors, EZ430 provides better environment for writing and debugging codes.
However I think separating the interface module and the target board in two enclosures would make it easier to use."

Pros: price and reliablity, flexiblity and performance
Cons: none...
"It is a great product for Embedded system developers as this product is very versatile, easy to handle due to USB support using the remarkable spy bi-wire technology and the free compilers like IAR Embedded from TI and also Code Composer Studio 4.0 is totally outstanding.... Since the USB debugging interface and the controller board are detachable there is a wide scope for development of other versions of MC's having a spy bi-wire support..... Also for power greedy developers, it is a boon to have such a device of really low power consumption with major features like 16MIPS speed, internal clock, watch dog timers, JTAG interface, fully accessible pinouts in the module.....what more do u expect for 20$!!!!!!! Thank you TI for releasing such a remarkable product at such low price......The student community will really be greatful to you...."

Pros: price and completeness.
Cons: any!
"Although TI targets professional developers and large scale integrators I believe this product was an instant hit in the Academic environment. I mean Universities and students. Is is easy for a student to get for free a compiler, a Data-Base system or even an O.S. (Linux) to dissect and study but until the "EZ430-F2013" an embedded development environment was out of the possibilities of an regular individual. Today for $20 you get a complete embedded system: IDE, jtag-programmer and the embedded platform itself. This opens wide the doors to the study of embedded systems and for what I can see it was fully embraced. Bravo TI !"
